Maybe a little premature
We are all sitting here in the lounge listening to Silent Night on an online Christmas radio station, with Christmas lights dangling the width of our large balcony window and a few tens of candles burning softly around the room. It isn’t December yet but we are definitely in a festive mood.

Editing
I’m currently in the editing lab at EVTEK, capturing my filmage from the weekend onto the computers here. We filmed both Saturday and Sunday and hopefully I have all the shots and can get on with the editing part. I’m hoping to have the movie finished at the end of next week so I can get on with revision. I also have two other projects due in the same week, so I’m staying until...

Two
Milja is currently flying past the West coast of central Africa. She should land here at around 11pm, but as she is taking exactly the same route and connection as I did on Sunday, she may be back either at 3am like me, or even on a morning flight on Saturday. Hopefully her first flight is early so she can make the connection. Raija and Heikki’s mum Vieno left to Cape Town on Tuesday. They...

Bag is on its way
I got a call from the airport and my bag is being sent over in the next two hours. Hopefully, unlike last time, the bag hasn’t been gone through. Out of the three times I have flown back from South Africa through Europe, my bag has been lost twice.

Back to reality... bump
What a lovely time I had in South Africa. I arrived back in Finland very early this morning. We got there on Saturday morning at about 10:45. The flight was great and we managed to sleep loads (Milja got about 7 hours). We had hassle getting through border control because we didn’t have our return tickets with us. We ended up waiting 30 minutes for a print out and got shouted at by a random...

A lot to do
We have made a list of things to do while we are here, and there are quite a few things on it! Yesterday we went for a trip to the Stellenbosch area, where we visited two vineyards for drinks and a late lunch. The first one had an exhibition of photos of jewellery made by Frida, who was with us. She is a Swedish friend of Jesse, Minna and Heikki’s Finnish friend, who works at the Finnish...

WatchWatch
As we landed and took off from Heathrow, we could see loads of fireworks (for Bonfire Night) being set off all over the lit up London. It was an amazing sight. This video was taken on the ground as we were waiting to take off. You should be able to see the flashes of fireworks underneath the row of incoming aeroplanes.

The shorts are on
We have just arrived in Hout Bay after our long trip. It is great to be back! This place is so beautiful. I realised that I have been gone almost half the length of time that we lived here - the time since June has gone so fast. I had a shower “just now” and have put my shorts on. I am keeping my trousers off as much as I can this week!

Africa, baby!
I am at uni and Milja and Raija are on their way to pick me up and take me to the airport. Our flight ist at 17:10 and we are headed to Heathrow first for a few hours before our flight to Cape Town at around 20:00 England time. See you on the other side!

Journey
Milja and I are leaving tomorrow afternoon to South Africa. It has kind of crept up on us. We haven’t talked about it much this week. I have been late at uni most days completing work so that I don’t have anything to minimise the amount I have to do while I’m away. I will pack tonight because I still have a lesson tomorrow morning before we leave to the airport at around 3ish.

On the way to SA
Last night Milja and I bought tickets to Cape Town. We are both flying out next Friday 9th in the evening and arriving there Saturday in the morning. I fly back on Saturday 17th arriving back in Helsinki last on Sunday and Milja is staying in CT for an extra 6 days, arriving at the same time as I do, but on the following Saturday (24th). Can’t wait!
